About

I grew up on Main Street in a very small town in a big white farmhouse with a wrap-around porch. I was a very busy make-and-do type kid. My parents brought home an old wooden school desk, sat it in the family room and supplied me with endless boxes of computer paper. Sheet after sheet, I would draw, draw, draw. You could say that’s where it all began.

When it came time for college, I knew I wanted to convert “making stuff” into a real job. I chose the University of Cincinnati, majoring in Graphic Design (DAAP). The reputation of the program was convincing, but I think it really was the opportunity to travel and gain internship experience that really sealed the deal.

After graduating both summa cum laude and as marshall of DAAP, I was excited to take my first real design job working for in New York City. With a print design education, I quickly learned the ropes of interface design with the help of some great mentors and patient developers (“So, why can’t I control the rag on a website?!”).

Fast-forward quite a few years to 2008. With growing side projects, dreams of independence and a desire for a flexible schedule, I took the leap into full-time freelance design. Many years later, it’s still the best job.

I now live in Oxford, Ohio (just outside of Cincinnati) with my husband and sons. I continue to “make things” — my latest creations include mixing up dyes with my chemist son and knitting a tiny sweater for a friend. I also spend a great deal of time reading children’s books.

I’m currently freelancing out of my home office with local clients and remotely with clients across the country. I’m always pursuing new projects and opportunities.
